Ranchi Test: India clinch 1st-ever series whitewash of South Africa.
South Africa would have been relieved on Tuesday as their horror run in India finally came to an end. After 20 days of one-sided action, the visitors have suffered their 1st-ever series whitewash in Tests against India.
Barring their 1st innings in the 1st Test in Visakhapatnam, Faf du Plessis’s men never really troubled India over the course of the 3 Tests.
In the 3rd and final Test of the series, South Africa suffered their one of their biggest ever defeats as they were bundled out for 133 after India enforced the follow-on for the 2nd successive time in the series. It took just 12 balls on Tuesday morning for India to complete a historic maiden 3-0 clean sweep of South Africa in Ranchi. Resuming at the overnight score of 132/8, South Africa’s innings lasted just a further 11 minutes as debutant Shahbaz Nadeem completed the formalities bundling the tourists for 133 thus handing India an innings and 202-run victory. This was also India’s biggest margin of victory in terms of innings vs South Africa in Tests.
Rohit sharma awarded as Man of the Match as well as Man of the Series. It is India’s 11 Unbroken home series win since 2013-14.
